Thomas Hailer has been a dramatic advisor and script editor since 1995. In 2020, he became a mentor with the Jerusalem Sam Spiegel Film Lab.
One of his more recent projects was Marianna Brennand’s narrative debut Manas, which won numerous prizes including the 2024 Director’s Award in the Giornate degli Autori section of the Venice International Film Festival. He was a script editor on Mission Ulja Funk, directed by Barbara Kronenberg, which won the 2023 German Film Award.
As a systemic organization developer, change manager, and integrative coach, he advises boards, executives, and teams in the media and culture sectors.
Hailer was the artistic director of the Nordic Film Days Lübeck from 2020 to 2025. From 2008 to 2019 he was the curator for the Competition at the Berlin International Film Festival. He previously headed up Generation, the Berlinale section for young audiences.
Since its founding in 2000 and until 2026, he has been one of the heads of studies at the Academy for Children's Media, where he was responsible for curriculum and project supervision, among other things.
